Get to know your University trail
Open to all students, the trail is a great way for you to discover student services such as the Careers Service and Student Wellbeing Services and how they can help you. Take part in the online trail quiz as you work your way around the route.
Our student support services are so excited to meet you all. Whether you are new to the University or returning after the winter break, this is your chance to get involved, explore campus and talk to the services that are here to support you!

Dates of the trail
The trail will take place on the following dates:
- Friday 12 January
- Thursday 18 January
You can take part in the trail at any time between 11am - 3pm on the above dates. We estimate the trail will take you around one hour to complete.
Where to collect your free trail map
Pick up your free trail map from the 'Welcome' stall inside Potterrow, Bristo Square.

The trail map has various locations for you to explore, and you will meet a number of student services along the way.
On the map you will also discover the trail quiz, and the questions that you will need to find out the answers to in order to enter the prize draw. Please see below for further information about the quiz and prize draw.

Help at hand
As you use the trail map to navigate campus, don't forget to:
- Look out for 'Welcome' signs placed outside each building located on the trail
- Say hello to our friendly Student Ambassadors who will be on hand to answer any questions and guide you in the right direction. They will be stationed along the route wearing bright red jackets!
Accessibility
The trail map uses a coloured key. If you would prefer to use a numerical key, we can provide you with an alternative map on the day.
If you would like to provide us with information about any specific accessibility requirements you have for taking part in the trail, please email induction@ed.ac.uk. Providing details in advance will allow us to make adjusted arrangements and provide additional support where possible.

- Scan the QR code on your trail map or access the quiz at the following link: Get to know your University trail quiz
- Enter an answer for each of the questions in the quiz and click 'Submit'. (There is a question for each of the student support services taking part in the trail. Questions will also be listed on the trail map).
- Make sure you submit your answers by 5pm on Thursday 18 January 2024, to be in with a chance of winning a University of Edinburgh hoodie.
- 50 winners will be selected at random.
- We will be in touch with the lucky winners via email by Monday 22 January 2024. (Please note hoodies will be made to order and winners will receive dates for collection).
