Connect with your virtual learning environment

Throughout your studies you will be using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) such as Learn or Moodle.

What you need to do

We recommend you become familiar with the VLE platforms you will engage with during your studies. These online learning platforms allow course materials to be shared online with you as well as support collaboration and assessment activities.

Why you need to do it

The type of VLE you will use will vary depending on your programme but you will have access to your VLE in advance of your start date.

Please note: there is no expectation that you will be fully competent in using this platform in advance.

Other online learning platforms

You might also use:

  • blogs
  • wikis
  • discussion boards and forums
  • video streaming services, e.g. Media Hopper, YouTube or Vimeo

When you do it

A few weeks before the programme commences, you will receive an email inviting you to familiarise yourself with your VLE and the digital resources. Keep a look out for this email. If you haven’t received the email a week before the programme commences, then contact your programme team directly.
