Things to consider
Before you arrive, you will need to get organised to support yourself academically, financially and to look after your health. Visit the pages below to discover useful things to consider, with information on how to prepare, be aware and what steps to take if applicable.
Getting support from the Disability and Learning Support Service
If you have a disability, learning difference, health or neurodiverse condition that impacts your studies please get in touch with the Disability and Learning Support Service (DLSS) as soon as possible. The earlier you get in touch with us, the better.
Vaccinations and immunisations
The University encourages you to protect yourself by having the appropriate vaccinations.
Register with a dentist and optician
Information on how to access dental and optician services as a student
Fund your studies
Finance your studies with scholarships and funding opportunities.
Watch out for scams or fraud!
It's important to know how to protect yourself against fraud.
Open a UK bank account
All students who are studying at the University for one year or longer are eligible to open a UK bank account. For shorter visits the choice is more limited, and we recommend that you seek more information from banks directly. This process may take up to two weeks if you have all the required documentation ready to go beforehand.
Plan your budget
We advise that you begin to estimate your future living costs, as this will help you budget for your experience during your studies.
