EventsAIR Case Studies
On this page you will find previous use cases of EventsAIR at the University of Edinburgh.
Various events have been run at the University of Edinburgh, through the EventsAIR platform.
Open days are the flagship events in the University’s undergraduate recruitment calendar, attracting up to 10,000 visitors to the city.
With COVID restrictions in place the Student Recruitment and Admissions team (SRA) needed a digital alternative to continue to share all the University has to offer with prospective students. Using the EventsAIR platform the team built a two day event comprising webinar-style talks and a virtual exhibition. Exhibition stands were staffed by over 700 colleagues in total representing all schools and a range of services. These stands were used to provide visitors with video content, useful files and links to more information.
- The text chat feature enabled interaction between attendees and exhibitors, with over 1300 conversations taking place.
- 94.5% of attendees survey found the event “useful” or “very useful”
- 77% of attendees said that they were more likely to apply or accept an offer from the University as a result.

The Careers Service aims to inspire and empower University of Edinburgh students to develop their potential and achieve rewarding futures. The Careers Service runs multi-employer events and Careers Fairs each year to connect students with potential employers and to open students’ eyes to the wealth of possibilities ahead of them, helping them to explore new avenues, and tap into their talents and confidently shape their futures.
The majority of Careers Service events were traditionally centered around exhibitions that provided students with the opportunity to browse the stands of potential employers and talk to them. With COVID-19 restrictions in place for the 2020/21 academic year, large-scale in-person exhibitions had to go virtual. Using the EventsAIR platform, the Careers Service team was able to facilitate their usual suite of events online.
Across the 6 EventsAIR-based Careers Service events in 2020/2021, there were a total of 5906 student and graduate attendees. 5 of these events were centered around the exhibition functionality of the platform, they hosted 233 exhibitors. Leading to a grand total of:
· 3382 text chats
· 3606 video/audio chats.
