Open Access Week at the Data Library

The Data Library participated in the worldwide Open Access week, 24-30 October, 2011, in some surprising ways.

First, the Data Library hosted a visit by a repository librarian from the University of Abertay, Annette Ramsden, who was interested in adding research data to their institutional repository, and spoke to us about Edinburgh DataShare and our policies. Annette's visit was sponsored by the Repository Support Project, and was blogged on their site.

Second, the Data Librarian was invited to speak at a seminar run jointly by the Research School and Library Services of The Open University in Milton Keynes, to present the University of Edinburgh as a case study for 'What we are doing and how it is working' with respect to research data management initiatives and policy. This event was also blogged, on the Digital Curation Centre's site.

Third, JISC, which funded the Research Data MANTRA project, published a press release highlighting the MANTRA course as an open educational resource, as part of their open access week publicity. We have already received quite a lot of positive feedback from other data professionals and researchers about this new resource.
