Library roles in research data management

On 22nd March the University will welcome Sam Searle, Data Management Coordinator at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.

Drawing on her experience of coordinating a range of activities relating to research data management at Monash, Sam will speak on the roles of the library in this area.

The event will take place in the Conference Room of the David Hume Tower from 2.30 - 4.00 on Tuesday, 22nd March.

The outline schedule for the afternoon is as follows:

  • 2.30 - Robin Rice: Welcome. Data Library services and projects related to research data management.
  • 2.45 - Sam Searle: Library roles in research data management - experiences from Monash University.
  • 3.15 - Discussion.
  • 3.30 - Sheila Cannell: Getting a research data management policy for the University of Edinburgh.
  • 3.45 - Jeff Haywood: University of Edinburgh storage strategy. Final remarks.

Tea and coffee will be available from 2.00.

Given the importance of support for researchers in data management, all interested colleagues are warmly invited to come along to what will be an informative and stimulating event.
