Pitch Perfect: How to Prepare and Deliver an Elevator Pitch
This workshop is a preparatory session aimed specifically at Masters students who have already registered for the Researcher-Practitioner Mixer Event being hosted by the Global Environment and Society Academy and the School of Geosciences on the 19th November.
The session will cover a short introduction of the Researcher-Practitioner Mixer Event, and how it will operate on the day, followed by a preparatory workshop delivered in partnership with the Institute for Academic Development that will help students to consider:
- The purpose and nature of brief pitches
- The kinds of information that is useful and informative
- The ways in which a short pitch might vary depending on the audience
- Techniques for conveying information effectively
During the sessions students will be asked to practice with each other in small groups, and before leaving will be asked to submit one sentence that sums up their research interests.
At the end of the session students can collect their bespoke itinerary for the Researcher-Practitioner Mixer Event.
Attendance at the event is free but we ask that you sign up in advance of the workshop.
