Postgraduate Taught students have until the 17th of June to fill in the Higher Education Academy's Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey.
What is it?
It’s a quick survey allowing the University to collect information about your experience as a student. This covers all students working towards a Masters, Postgraduate Certificate, or Diploma course.
The University of Edinburgh participates in the Higher Education Academy's Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey every year. This survey allows universities to tailor their questions to be specific – so we can get a better picture of what you need.
What will you ask me about?
Our questions will help us to gather information to improve teaching and learning, engagement, assessment and feedback, organisation and management, resources and services, and skills development.
We’ll also consider why you chose your particular programme of study, and ask you to reflect on your dissertation or final project experience.
How will you use my answers?
Your answers are confidential, although standardised benchmarking tools might mean these results will be compared against averages within a number of groups, such as Russell Group Universities and Scottish institutions.
However, this is an internal tool for the University which focuses on quality of teaching. We analyse the results in order to make positive changes based on your recommendations. In some cases, these findings may prompt further research concerning particular issues you raise.
What will we get out of it?
Your answers will allow us to make your experience with us better. We’ll:
• Deconstruct the demographic of the taught postgraduate student body.
• Identify good areas of teaching and University resources.
• Reflect on and enhance course delivery through structured and detailed student feedback.
• Collect a robust data set that enables greater analysis of student experience feedback.
