Flexible Learning Spaces
Flexible Learning Spaces are a brand new edition to our open-access computer learning spaces. You can find them on the Second Floor in the Main Library and use them with no booking required.
There are a couple of things that Flexible Learning Spaces allow you to do:
- Use the hub-monitor as your second monitor by plugging in a USB-C cable into your own device.
- Use the Mac mini device that allows you to use the space just like you would use a normal Mac computer.
- Charge your personal laptop.
There are 40 Flexible Learning seats available currently.

This space is free to use without booking at the moment.
There is no time limit for usage, however, if the Mac is idle for 30 minutes it will auto-logout (warnings to the user start after 10 mins idle time).
If you want to use the Mac mini provided, you need to log in with your University Username - MacOS Login. Alternatively, you can connect your own machine. You can find out how to do it below.
Yes, as long as the device has a compatible USB-C port, the monitor can also support compatible Chromebooks and smartphones.
You need to plug in the USB C cable into your own device and it will become your second screen automatically.
The monitor should switch back to the Mac mini automatically,10 seconds after disconnecting the USB-C cable.
Yes, you can do so from Safari, Google Chrome or Firefox. Starting Apps

The Mac mini's have 2x USB-A ports that are used for the keyboard and mouse and a further 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports that are free and can be used for USB Drives.
Nothing needs to be done as users' accounts are cleared at each restart, with an automatic restart each night.
The Mac mini's have the EdPrintPull printers automatically added.
