Starting an application
You can open many applications by clicking on the icon in the dock, at the bottom of the screen.
Other applications can be found by clicking on Finder in the dock, then Applications on the left of the window.
Software available on all open access Macintosh computers includes:
- Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari for web browsing.
- Microsoft Office for word processing, presentations and spreadsheets.
- EndNote, for managing references.
- SPSS, for statistics.
The uCreate area and Resource Centre provide additional software packages, such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere for image and video editing, and Dreamweaver for web development. Some schools also provide specialist software in particular open-access areas.
