This event is part of the Caberet of Dangerous Ideas at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Each year, thousands of children are born in the UK as the result of egg or sperm donation. Once they turn 18, they will be able to find their biological parents, if they want.

It doesn’t work the other way, though: gamete donors are unable to seek out children; nor can biological siblings born to different families from the same donor find each other.

But they might want to – and perhaps they should be able to?

Join bioethicist Sarah Chan and sperm donor Lee Baylis to discuss the multiple meanings of kinship, genetics and family.
