About the Herd Health Scheme

The purpose of the Herd Health Scheme is to provide, through quarterly Herd Health Reports, a Quality Assurance Health Summary compliant with ADF standards.

The report summarises and compares culling rates and disease incidence. It also makes a superficial survey of fertility efficiency.

It draws attention to management and disease problems which would benefit from particular effort.

It demonstrates where improvement or deterioration has taken place - an important incentive for continued herd health work.

Fifteen consecutive Sheet 2’s are required before a report with figures in all four columns can be produced (sixteen if the fertility section is to be used).
