All tuition fees are due in full on or before matriculation. If you are studying more than one year, tuition fees will be invoiced when you enter each new year of study.
There are different payment options depending on whether you pay yourself (self-funded) or a government, loan or sponsor pays for you (external-funded).
Tuition fee payment information on the Finance website
Your student fees must be paid in full within 30 days of receiving your invoice, unless you are paying by instalment.
Some of our postgraduate taught programmes require you to pay a deposit.

Tuition fee deposits
Paid your deposit but not seeing it marked as paid?
When you pay your deposit, it will not automatically show up as paid in the Applicant Hub. This is because a staff member must first check and record your payment on the application system. Once this is done, the Applicant Hub will show your deposit as having been paid.
Are tuition fees adjusted?
Before you start your degree, the tuition fee you must pay is adjusted by the deposit amount paid.
If a sponsor is paying tuition fees to the University on your behalf, the guidance below explains who can be a sponsor and how to confirm your sponsorship.

If there are changes to your nationality once you start studying, we can update your nationality on the student system.
However, this will not impact your fee status which would remain unchanged. This means that if you start your degree with overseas fee status, you will continue to pay the overseas rate for the duration of your studies.
To allow us to update your nationality, please email a copy of your passport to fees@ed.ac.uk. You will not be able to upload attachments to this form.
If there is not enough information in your application to work out what your fee status is, you will need to complete a fee status questionnaire.
If you receive a notification to complete a fee status questionnaire, it is important that you complete the questionnaire as soon as possible.
Make sure you provide the full information requested along with supporting documentation. This helps us to determine your fee status as quickly as possible.
