Study support during this exam season

We’ve put together a list of resources and support to help you with preparing for your exams.

Resources from the Library to help you study for your exams

The University Library has a huge range of resources to help you study for your exams. You can download past exam papers to practice, or, if you’re studying remotely, you can use the Library’s 'Scan & Deliver' service to request scanned extracts of print materials.

Where can I study?

If you need some quiet space, in addition to the Main Library, a number of University libraries will be open in the evening and at weekends.

The best place for finding information about locations, opening times and booking study spaces is our Study Spaces website:

Dealing with exam stress

The exam period can feel intense and overwhelming. Connecting with friends or family, keeping active, and focusing on the present moment can all support your wellbeing. If you need it, there is support available.

For all taught undergraduate and postgraduate students, your Student Adviser is your first point of contact if you need support. If you're not sure who to turn to, get in touch with them. Your Student Adviser can point you in the right direction, if you’re worried about academic, wellbeing or personal matters.

Here are some of the services available to you as a student at the University of Edinburgh:

  • Health and Wellbeing website: find out more about support services that you can access or visit our Health and Wellbeing Centre.

  • The Advice Place: Edinburgh University Students’ Association’s free and impartial advice on a wide range of matters, including any academic concerns you may have.

  • The Listening Service: this 24/7 service offers confidential and non-judgemental listening.
