Introducing Teams for Teaching
The introduction of Teams for Teaching has helped encourage active teacher, student engagement, especially where this scenario demands flexibility in remote access to class collaboration. It delivers a rich collection of feature, greater capacity than alternatives and is proven as a reliable, secure space for this purpose.
Teams for Teaching originates from schools choosing Microsoft Teams for Teaching in 2020 and so approached ISG seeking help to create and maintain them along with good practice guidance about using Teams for Teaching.
A solution was delivered in 2021 with School Data Sync to auto-create Class Teams along with student enrolments which are aligned with the Student Information System. This ran for an extended period into 2023 and will be retired at the end of 2024. However, Teams for Teaching will continue to be supported through courses in Learn Ultra.
Requesting Teams for Teaching
You should discuss any planned use of MS Teams with your School or College Learning Technologist. Once approved, your Learning Technologist will request a Class Team based upon your course and it will be created for you.
Student course enrolments are refreshed automatically in Class Teams from the central Student Information System so you don't need to manually maintain student memberships in the Team.
