Infection Medicine at the Virtual Midlothian Science Festival 2020

Two of our virologists are offering "Meet Our Scientists" virtual sessions in the Midlothian Science Festival 2020.

Two virologists from the Division, Professor Jurgen Haas and Dr Samantha Griffiths, are offering virtual "Meet Our Scientists" sessions to schools in this year's Midlothian Science Festival. Both Jurgen and Sam are working on potential treatments to fight the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Dr Samantha Griffiths interacted with 5 S1 and S2 classes from Lasswade High School at Edinburgh on Monday 12th October 2020. The pupils said they were excited to meet a real life scientist. They asked many questions about COVID19 and what it was like to be a scientist.

Professor Jurgen Haas's Meet Our Scientists session took place on 27th October 2020. The pupils on the Human Biology and AH Biology from Dalkieth High School asked some fantastic questions on COVID19 and what it is like to be a scientist and a clinician during the pandemic. The teacher of the class said it was an "incredibly fascinating session"!
