AgriTech Analytics

Our technology integrates AI-powered satellite data analytics and data from our crop and soil IoT sensor to halt and reverse soil degradation, crop pests and diseases to end hunger.

Problem

logo

We are tackling annual crop losses in Africa of 45%-100% caused by pests and diseases; climate change - 98% of African agriculture depends on unreliable rainfall; soil degradation which impacts 65% of Africa’s agricultural land. Farmers lack reliable methods to monitor farms from plantation to harvest and this volatility impacts farmers’ ability to use expected crop harvests as collateral to acquire loans from banks.

Solution

We created a crop and soil management tool that leverages data from AI-powered satellite analytics and data from our solar-powered IoT crop and soil sensor. The sensor is installed on the farm, it captures soil health parameters (pH, moisture, temp, NPK, etc) for precise soil inputs. It then scans crop leaves and stems to detect crop pests and diseases. These data are combined with satellite imagery data to produce over 95% accurate data sent to small-scale farmers via their phones.

Market

We target small-scale farmers in Africa owning less than 2 hectares of land. In Kenya this is 80% of all farmers and is approximately 7.5 million farmers.
