Prestigious National Teaching Fellowship for Dr Catriona Bell
Dr Catriona Bell has been recognised for making an outstanding contribution to teaching in higher education.

Dr Catriona Bell, a Reader at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, has been awarded a prestigious National Teaching Fellowship.
The scheme celebrates individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes, and the teaching profession in higher education.
Enhancing education
Dr Bell is among 54 new Fellows announced by Advance HE – an organisation that aims to advance the professional practice of higher education to benefit students, staff and wider society.
The scheme is open to staff from all higher education providers in the UK.
This is the first year that the fellowships have been open to Scottish institutions, and Dr Bell is one of five winners from universities north of the border.
Veterinary career
A qualified veterinary surgeon, Dr Bell joined the University in 2005 as the UK’s first lecturer in veterinary education.
Since joining the university, Dr Bell has developed various aspects of her teaching and research expertise. She is particularly interested in cross-disciplinary approaches to learning and teaching enhancement.
I am extremely proud that my passion for advancing teaching excellence has been recognised with this highly prestigious National Teaching Fellowship (NTF), and am excited by future opportunities to share cross-disciplinary ideas and best practices with other NTFs. Many of my projects and outputs have been based around successful collaborations with excellent colleagues and students, so I would also like to acknowledge their contributions to this work.
