Giving to the Dick Vet
The generosity of our community of supporters, alumni, clients and friends helps make the Dick Vet what it is today.
By supporting us, you help us continue to be an international leader in veterinary education, clinical care and research; building on our 200-year history.

What can I support?
We have highlighted a number of priority areas where your support can make a difference below.
Equipping and maintaining our clinics is very costly. Your support can help our vets to have access to the most up-to-date equipment, ensuring the best possible care for all of our animal patients.
Recently, our supporters have enabled us to purchase:
- A new autoclave to support effective sterilisation of equipment
- Equine gastroscope and ultrasound
- Fluid warmer, blood pressure monitor and centrifuge for our Hospital for Small Animals
Because our hospitals are teaching hospitals, our student vets can learn how to use the latest technologies to advance the care and welfare of animal health.
We are deeply committed to ensuring the best students follow their career of choice irrespective of their financial circumstances.
By providing funding to support our students to complete their studies with us, this benefits not only them, but also the University, commerce, industry and communities around the world.
Our Student Support Fund benefits immensely from the generous donations of the School’s kind community of supporters. This fund is used to support our students to complete their studies should they find themselves in financial hardship, to undertake their required practical placement activity (Extra Mural Studies), and to support scholarships – such as our International Undergraduate Scholarship.
Contributing to this fund will help ensure financial barriers do not prevent the students of today from becoming tomorrow’s vets.
Support for the Dean's Development Fund gives our Head of School the flexibility to use your donation or Class Gift where the need is greatest.
Our vision for the future is simple yet ambitious: we want to take the School’s work to a new level as a world leader in veterinary education, clinical care and research. To make this vision a reality, we are continually investing in state-of-the-art facilities, our student experience and our research. By donating to this fund, you can help us.
The Dean’s Development Fund has recently awarded funds to support:
- Students in hardship
- Vital community and research projects
- The purchase of equipment for our hospitals
All4Paws is our free outreach service for the pets of the homeless and vulnerably housed in and around Edinburgh.
The service is run by students and staff of the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and is only able to continue providing much needed services such as vaccinations, deworming treatments and flea treatments with support from people like you.
Students are also on hand to give advice on pet health and behavioural issues and, with you by our side, pet owners have access to basic resources such as pet food, winter jackets, collars and leashes. Your generous donation to the University of Edinburgh will help All4Paws continue to provide essential health checks, preventative treatment and supplies to a variety of pets.
In addition to our priority areas, we are very pleased to discuss support towards any aspect of our work.
Thank you for considering support to the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.
