Laboratory for Bacterial Evolution and Pathogenesis (LBEP)

Jamie Gorzynski

Research Fellow

Jamie Grozynski

Jamie joined the LBEP as a PhD student in September 2018, following his interest in research and a broad interest in microbial pathogen evolution. He did his undergraduate degree in Microbiology at the University of Aberdeen, followed by a masters degree at the University of Edinburgh, where he studied Evolutionary Genetics (Kings Buildings).

His project uses bioinformatic methods for genomics and phylogenetics to investigate the evolution of pathogenic Legionella species and the strain-dependent variation seen in the outcome of infection. In his spare time, Jamie enjoys hiking, travelling and being outdoors, as well as playing chess.

Jamie completed his PhD in 2023 and is now working as a post-doc in the LBEP group.
