Cellular Immunology and Vaccinology Group (CIVG)

Macrophage team

The projects within this team focus on characterising macrophages in cattle and pigs.

The function and phenotype of bovine respiratory tract cells, and studies of bone marrow differentiation into macrophages are examples of ongoing studies. This also links to projects within the Antigen Presenting Cell (APC) Interactions team. In addition, novel reagents produced by the Immunological Toolbox team are tested to allow detailed studies of macrophages in health and disease.

This work was supported by an MSD Animal Health Research Bursary for Veterinary Students, which enabled a student from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (R(D)SVS) to carry out a short research project.
