University wins major sustainability award

The University’s efforts in becoming a more social responsible and sustainable institution have been recognised by a major national award.

Edinburgh received the Sustainability Institution of the Year Award at the UK’s prestigious Green Gown Awards.

The judges praised the University’s continuous work to adopt a unified approach across campus and boost social responsiblity and sustainability.

Edinburgh was also highly commended in the Leadership Team of the Year category. 

The University will now be entered with with other global regional winners for the International Green Gown Awards.

The efforts of our staff, students and partnerships are essential to deliver the programmes that will ensure we achieve our vision of being a socially responsible and sustainable university. Public recognition provides us with an opportunity to celebrate their enthusiasm and hard work.

Prestigious prize

Now in its 14th year, the Awards are organised by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges. The Ceremony was held in The National Railway Museum in York.

The Awards included entries from institutions, companies and organisations across the UK and Ireland and showcased the educational initiatives, staff, and students helping address some of the most pressing global challenges.
