Seth Grant elected Fellow, Academy of Med Sciences

Many congratulations to Professor Seth Grant, who has been elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

Seth Grant

Seth is Professor of Molecular Neuroscience in CCBS. His “Genes to Cognition” research programme focuses on the study of genes and proteins that control the synapses between nerve cells.

Seth studies the multiprotein machines that are responsible for basic innate and learned behaviours and dysfunction in many brain diseases. His research combines genetic, proteomic and new synaptome mapping methods to translating the basic biology of synapses into translational approaches in the clinic.

Prof Grant is also Co-leader of the Strategic Mouse Brain Data strand of the Human Brain Project. This large-scale EC project is accelerating progress toward a multi-level understanding of the human brain, better diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases.

The Academy of Medical Sciences represents the diverse spectrum of medical science - from basic research through clinical application to healthcare delivery. Their mission is to promote medical science and its translation into benefits for society.

The new Fellows will be formally admitted during a ceremony on Wednesday 1 July.
