Quality at heart of new investment
A series of major investments is helping to improve the student experience at Edinburgh.
Refurbished buildings are boosting the quality of learning and teaching across the campus. The creation of more than 350 new study spaces in the Main Library has been praised by the Students’ Association. Appleton Tower has been transformed to provide a welcoming teaching and learning environment. Innovative improvements at The Pleasance have provided a range of flexible, multi-use spaces for societies and social use. The lecture recording system will be significantly extended over the next three years. This will create a collection of recordings for students to access in support of their study and revision.
Student housing
Investments have been made to improve the range and quality of student accommodation. New residences at Holyrood have scooped UK awards for best student housing. Some accommodation prices have been cut to help make study at Edinburgh more affordable to all.
Extra support
Resources have also been allocated to make it easier for students to access support and advice. An extra £140,000 will be invested in the Student Counselling Service over the next two years. A new facility at Moray House makes it easier for staff and students to access counselling services.
Looking ahead, a host of initiatives are planned that will benefit Edinburgh’s students and staff.
