Update on HE Governance (Scotland) Bill

The Scottish Government's draft legislation proposing changes to the way Universities are governed is currently being considered by Parliament.

The University has put in a written submission to the Parliamentary Committee which is reviewing the draft legislation. This was approved by the University Court, which has overall responsibility for the governance of the University.

Evidence from the University to the Education and Culture Committee

In this evidence the University expresses a number of concerns - in particular in relation to the new powers that would be granted to Scottish Ministers and the potential adverse knock-on effects on our institutional and academic autonomy. The Committee will be taking oral evidence on the Bill on 6 October and Parliament is expected to conclude its scrutiny early in the New Year.
