Festive Holidays

For the 2021 festive period, the University will close at 5pm on Thursday 23 December 2021, and reopen at 9am on Wednesday 5 January 2022.

Library opening times

The Main Library in George Square will be open throughout the festive period except for 24-26 December and 1-2 January.

More than 600 study spaces will be available over this period, as well as laptop loans and access to printers.

All site libraries including the Murray Library at King’s Buildings will be closed from Friday 24 December to Tuesday 4 January 2022 inclusive.

Wellbeing support

Since some students and staff might not be able to be with loved ones this year, the University is pairing students and staff and encouraging a range of activities, including walking, cycling, running or even just meeting for coffee to alleviate any feelings of isolation over this period:

The University Listening Service will be offering 24/7 support for all staff and students, and is contactable through the University Security Team on 0131 650 2257.

Students in University-managed accommodation

Any urgent welfare concerns can be raised through the Community Support Team on 0131 667 1971 and they can provide assistance or escalate to the on-call Residence Life Team.

All lockouts, maintenance issues, noise complaints, immediate safety or security issues should be directed to the Community Support Team on 0131 667 1971 or security24-7@ed.ac.uk.
