Travelling and training fellowships

Small awards to facilitate collaborative visits and training.

These awards are for smaller sums but can be transformative to early career researchers. For example, they can be used to travel to another laboratory and undertake immersive training or used to attend a conference.

Examples of such awards include:

 

The Company of Biologists’ journals

Journals including Development, Journal of Cell Science, Journal of Experimental Biology and Disease Models & Mechanisms offer Travelling Fellowships of up to £3,000 to graduate students and post-doctoral researchers wishing to make collaborative visits to other laboratories. These are designed to offset the cost of travel/accommodation and other related expenses. There is no restriction on nationality.

Disease Models and Mechanisms Conference travel grants

These awards are aimed at early--career researchers wanting to attend scientific meetings, conferences, workshops and training courses relating to the areas of reseaerch covered by the journal. Applicants will usually be PhD students and post-doctoral researchers at the beginning of their research careers, using the funding to support their travel.
