Internal fellowships

Information about internally-funded tenure-track fellowships.

The University and College occasionally offer internally-funded tenure-track fellowships, generally through the Chancellor’s Fellowship Scheme. The Roslin Institute may  also offer Roslin Institute Fellowships (formerly “Career-Track Fellowships”). Both of these schemes form part of the ESAT scheme

These calls are not generally annual but may open at any time of the year, sometimes with short notice. These fellowships typically require candidates to have a funding strategy, either making use of grants or bespoke fellowship schemes, such as the MRC New Investigator Award or the the Academy of Medical Sciences Springboard scheme.

You can also secure your first major element of research funding through the BBSRC new investigator scheme. These are part of the standard response mode grant calls, and you will be assessed following the same procedure as other applications, however research potential rather than track record will be taken into account.
