As the yearly celebration of innovation approaches, we take a look at the range of events involving staff and students from the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures (LLC).

M for Magic: Magic & Mentalism Workshop - Festival of Creative Learning 2019

Tuesday 19th February 2019

Expand your mind while developing heaps of self-confidence when you learn how to use modern magic and innovative mentalism as useful ice-breakers. Led by Ning Cai, award-winning Singaporean illusionist and author, M for Magic is an interactive hands-on workshop for adults teaching intriguing "sleight of mind" that may be used effectively as creative ice-breakers in business networking and social settings.

Chthulucene Dark: Imagining Climate Catastrophe via Table-Top Roleplaying

Tuesday 19th February 2019

This event will use table-top roleplaying as a form of live, interactive improv theatre, where players will control individual characters in a fictional setting adjudicated by a narrator. It is designed to be open and accessible, even to newcomers who are unfamiliar with table-top roleplaying.

The Bilingual Workshop in Creative Writing

Wednesday 20th february 2019

The Bilingual Worksop in Creative Writing is a unique opportunity to learn and improve the literary experience (writing or reading) and can offer new perspectives on how a literary text can be produced. The team will use a series of playful techniques to entertain and train our mind from bilingual views.

I'm not racist, but...: Challenging prejudice and unconscious bias

Wednesday 20th February 2019

This event aims to look at the roots of unconscious bias (including a look at the way our brains work) and to encourage participants to recognise it and address it. It will seek to provide an open and non-judgemental evironment in which participants can identify their own prejudices and discuss startegies to challenge them.

LLC Blethers 2019

Thursday 21st February 2019

A night of fast-talking, good-eating and fun-having, LLC Blethers is a chance to hang out with fellow members of LLC away from University. The main focus of the night is a series of Pecha Kucha talks on all aspects and topics of LLC life as well as food and drinks, prizes for participants, a quiz and live music.
