Shared Parental Leave

Documentation and guidance on Shared Parental Leave and Pay

Shared Parental Leave (SPL) is designed to give eligible parents more flexibility regarding the care of their child during the first year of its birth or adoption. Employees interested in taking SPL are encouraged to have an informal discussion about their plans to take SPL with their manager as early as possible so they can plan ahead for the absence.

Relevant documentation and guidance are published below.

The Policy includes information on eligibility criteria, leave and pay entitlement and the notification procedures employees need to follow to apply for SPL.

In order to help you with the application process, please refer to the relevant flowchart below.  The flowcharts explain what form(s) need to be completed and submitted and at what stage.  This should be referred to in conjunction with the policy.  Please also refer to the End to End Process Guide to Shared Parental Leave
