PG Certificate: Extended Work Based Project

The Extended Work Based Project is a significant and in-depth critical enquiry into an aspect of practice. This Certificate is a year-long course and is largely based upon independent study. It is broadly akin to a traditional masters research project. Although based on independent study, it is supported by some taught and face-to-face sessions. Participants are allocated a supervisor and will receive dedicated supervision meetings and support.

Teaching structure

  • Twilight and/or Saturday taught sessions 

  • Participants must be able to attend all taught sessions

  • Participants must be  working in an appropriate professional school context
  • Participants will receive 1-1 supervision

Assessment

Design, conduct and evaluate an extended work-based research project, providing a critically informed rationale for actions taken. Produce a research report of this work (this could be in format of a research report; published paper; research poster with accompanying handout and oral presentation).

Application Process

Entry on to the MEd Leadership and Learning is normally via one of the three core PG Certificates and progression to the Extended Work Based Project is upon successful completion of a core Certificate.
