Deanery of Clinical Sciences Funding Challenge 2024
The Funding Challenge is an opportunity to obtain a small grant through a competitive process, this will help develop your skills in applying to funding bodies.
The Deanery is pleased to announce the Deanery of Clinical Sciences Funding Challenge 2024! This is a small grant opportunity for early career researchers (PGR and Post-Docs) within the Deanery of Clinical Sciences to apply for funds devolved from the Institute for Academic Development to support their current study and research.
This is a great opportunity to gain some experience in writing a competitive funding application and to boost your scientific CV.

Applications must be either in Microsoft Word or PDF format. Please submit your applications to: dcs.postgraduate@ed.ac.uk
The deadline to submit applications is Sunday 14 January 2024, by 12:00pm sharp.
The selection panel will meet to discuss the applications shortly after. Applicants will be notified of their decisions and given some feedback on their application by mid-March.
Please note, students and researchers must be registered in the Deanery of Clinical Sciences to be eligible for funding. Individuals who are working in one of our Centres Labs but are not registered with the Deanery of Clinical Sciences cannot be considered.
- Eligibility: Open to all PGR and Post-Docs within the Deanery of Clinical Sciences
- Funds available: Applications are welcomed up to the value of £2,400. Relevant costing and justification for funds will be required.
- Conditions: Applicants are required to show proof that the funds are spent by 31st July 2024.
- Assessment: Applications will be judged by a panel of academics from across the various Clinical Sciences research centres.
- Submission deadline: Sunday 14 January 2024, 12:00pm (sharp).
