Letter to The Times, Saturday 28th March, 2020

Sir, Martin Pettinger (letter, Mar 27) and Patrick Kidd (Thunderer, Mar 27) lament the closing of our churches. But the church is not a building and it is not closed. Our church is the men, women and children who across our nation are praying in their homes, supporting their vulnerable neighbours, home schooling their children and are working in essential jobs including the NHS, our supermarkets and transport systems. We are the church and our hope is in a God who is “our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46), with us wherever we are, not only in church buildings.
