Connect with University departments

Edinburgh is one of the world’s leading research universities, leading Scotland and ranked fourth in the UK for research power. Partnerships with industry are fundamental to the University.

The Careers Service acts as a ‘front door’ to employers and alumni, helping you navigate the University and signposting to colleagues who can help you work effectively with both staff and students.

Edinburgh Innovations

If you are interested in setting up a footprint on campus, beyond student and graduate recruitment, then speak to colleagues in Edinburgh Innovations. They are also keen to support knowledge transfer between the university and industry, so can advise about:

  • research partnerships
  • joint bidding for large innovation projects
  • working with Consultancy staff for access to university staff and facilities.
  • arranging staff secondments or work shadowing.

They are one of the UK leaders in the successful commercialisation of the intellectual property generated from the University’s world-class research, through licensing technologies to existing companies and new University spin-outs.

A priority for the University’s global engagement is supporting sustainable partnerships that enhance our international reputation - Edinburgh Global can advise on negotiating partnerships with the University, in Edinburgh, as well as connect you to our global offices in Beijing, Mumbai, Santiago and New York.

Development & Alumni

Development & Alumni can advise about offering financial support for students, for example, sponsoring and hosting Masters and PhD students or offering scholarships and bursaries.

 Innovation Centres

The University of Edinburgh is privileged to host a number Innovation Centre hubs, which were set up to support transformational collaboration between Scottish universities and businesses. They aim to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship across Scotland’s key economic sectors, create jobs and grow the economy.
