Our scientist among the finalists of the Scottish Women's Awards 2018
Dr Olga Oikonomidou from the Cancer Research UK Edinburgh Centre has been named as one of the finalists of the Scottish Women’s Awards 2018: August 2018
Congratulations to Dr Olga Oikonomidou - Consultant Medical Oncologist and Clinician Scientist in Breast Oncology from the Cancer Research UK Edinburgh Centre. Dr Oikonomidou has been selected as a finalist of the Scottish Women’s Awards 2018 in the “Services to Medicine” category.
Scottish Women’s Awards have been established to celebrate female role models and to acknowledge their achievements that make Scotland a greater place to live in. As a medical oncologist Dr Oikonomidou treats cancer patients in the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. She is also involved in clinical trials aiming to test new promising therapeutics and actively pursues translational cancer research projects in the lab.
The black-tie Scottish Women’s Awards 2018 event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow, on Wednesday, 12th of September. It will not only celebrate the achievements of the finalists but also help raise funds for Women’s Fund for Scotland, whose mission is to make grants to projects that encourage women’s growth, self-sufficiency and social economic equality.
