ATLAS Event: Medical students use new 3D printed models to help learn anatomy

The ATLAS Facility recently held two student events focussed on innovative anatomy education through 3D printing and arts-based learning.

First year MBChB students were invited to attend revision events hosted by Anatomy@Edinburgh and ATLAS staff Dr Jennifer Paxton and Victoria McCulloch. These events were focussed on the brachial plexus, where participants were given a 3D printed model of this complex structure with a selection of learning materials and paints/pens to colour and annotate their models. Students created wonderful personalised revision models, with lots of different approaches used!

The feedback from these events was excellent, and they were thoroughly enjoyed by students and staff alike! We hope to run more of these events in the coming academic year – please get in touch if you are interested in taking part!
