The Covid-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented disruption in all parts of life since March 2020. The School of Biological Sciences wanted to further understand the current and anticipated impacts on our staff so we could plan how to support them better by undertaking a follow-up survey to cover the period August 2020 to June 2021 to complement the initial survey that was undertaken in July 2020.
About the Survey
- The survey ran from 10 May 2021 until 11 June 2021.
- 229 responses were received (12 less than the previous survey), accounting for just less than 40% of the School staff population.
- 55% identified as female, 42% identified as male and 3% identified another way or preferred not to share their gender.
- 62% were academic staff, 37% were professional services or those in technical roles, and 1% were in tutor or demonstrator roles.

In 2022, the School will run a further survey in order to compare across all three surveys and consider if issues raised in the first two surveys have been resolved, evolved or remain the same.
