How to nominate yourself for a Senate College Professional Services position

Nominations will open on Wednesday 24 April.

Eligibility

Current College Professional Services staff in post on 31 March 2024 are eligible to nominate themselves for election to Senate. In practice, this includes all College staff who are categorised as ' Professional, Administration and Operational' in the University's Human Resources records and who hold a contract of employment for the relevant College. 

Further information for Professional Services staff who are employed in more than one College,  is included on the nomination form and in the Senatus Academicus (Senate) College Professional Services Election Regulations. If you wish to check your eligibilty to stand,  please contact SenateSupport@ed.ac.uk in the first instance.

 

Nomination process

Members of College Professional Services staff can nominate themselves for election, and nominations will be submitted via an online nomination form. The nomination form will ask nominees to include a short written statement by the candidate supporting their nomination for election to Senate. This statement and candidate details will be made available to staff who are eligible to vote in the election via the Senate website.

Positions available

The total number of positions available for election in 2024 is 3. The positions available are:

College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences elected Professional Services staff   1 position

College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine elected Professional Services staff

1 position
College of Science and Engineering elected Professional Services staff 1 position

Term of office

Successful candidates will be ex-officio members of Senate and serve for a three year term. The term of office will begin on 1 August 2024.

There is no cap on the number of terms for which a College elected Professional Services staff member may stand.
