Student Mental Health Agreement launched

The University has launched its first ever Student Mental Health Agreement to set out how it will approach student mental health and wellbeing over the next two years.

The University has worked with the Edinburgh University Students' Association, the Edinburgh University Sports Union, as well as students living in University accommodation to create the agreement.

The agreement details what support is currently available to students, including Skills for Life and Learning workshops run by the Student Counselling Service and the Listening Service. It sets out current priorities, including developing the University’s Report + Support platform for reporting any forms of bullying, harassment, discrimination or gender-based violence on campus.  It covers what’s planned for the next two years, such as evolving the collaborative Let's Talk mental health campaign through events and new resources.

The agreement is part of the NUS Think Positive Student Mental Health Project, which sets a framework to help promote and develop mental health support offered for students.

Health and wellbeing services to support students

The University offers a variety of health and wellbeing services and resources to support students, including counselling, disability and learning support, sport and exercise facilities and opportunities, and services offered by the Chaplaincy. All Schools and Deaneries have Wellbeing Advisers who students can speak with if they are experiencing issues that are affecting their health, wellbeing, studies or personal life.
