International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Science (or you might see some people use the term ‘STEM’, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is a really important part of our world! Scientists solve problems all around us: from designing exciting space rockets and developing life-saving vaccinations, to discovering how to save endangered animals. We can all start learning about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at school!

Overall, girls are under-represented in STEM subjects in schools, colleges and universities. At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Gender stereotypes are a major factor contributing to these imbalances - you have the power to change this! All you need to be an excellent scientist is an inquisitive mind.
