KEMHRC recognised as ICMR-Collaborating Centre of Excellence
A RESPIRE partner has received a prestegious award from the Indian Council of Medical Research
KEM Hospital Research Centre (KEMHRC), based in Pune, India, has been recognised as an ICMR Collaborating Centre of Excellence (ICMR-CCoE) by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The ICMR-CCoE is a prestigious award presented in recognition of excellent contributions to biomedical research that aligns with the objectives of ICMR.
On the 4th November 2023, Dr Rajiv Bahl, Director General of the ICMR and Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Health Research presented a memento to Dr Anand Kawade, Head of the Vadu Rural Health Program (VRHP), and Dr Girish Dayma, Head of the Community Health Research Unit (CHRU), acknowledging their outstanding work in alignment with the Council's objectives.
Improving community-based research
Both the VRHP and CHRU are divisions of KEMHRC Pune that conduct community-based research on various aspects of health and disease in rural India, with a longstanding history of collaborating with RESPIRE. They have a strong track record of developing impactful publications and delivering research projects of global and national relevance, especially in maternal and child health, infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, nutrition, mental health, environmental health and health systems.
