Government funding

If you're studying full time for your first degree, you may apply to Student Finance Wales for a loan to cover your full tuition fees.

You can also apply to Student Finance Wales for a loan and grant to help you with your living costs.

Government loans can be used to study anywhere in the UK and will be available for the duration of your degree.

What you will receive depends on your household income.

You make one online application for both your tuition fee loan and living cost support.

The University of Edinburgh Scholarship

In addition to government funding, we offer the University of Edinburgh Scholarship that many of you will be eligible to receive.

You may use your scholarship to contribute towards either your tuition fees or your general living costs while at Edinburgh. The amount you may receive depends on your household income.

The University of Edinburgh Scholarship

You do not need to apply for the University of Edinburgh Scholarship, but will be automatically considered for this on the basis of information you provide about household income to your funding body.

The awards mean that university life away from home has been much more affordable and less burdensome. They have allowed me to buy all the relevant textbooks and a laptop.
