PPLS School community

• Cognitive Science is part of the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences, known locally as PPLS.
• Our vibrant and diverse School community is home to over 1700 undergraduates from more than 60 countries.
• Throughout your studies you’ll be supported by a combination of academic and dedicated student experience and administrative staff, and our own School Student Support Office, to ensure that your University experience is a positive one.
• Our student societies are an essential part of our community, providing you with a great opportunity to meet new people and enhance your subject knowledge.
• Cog Sci chats:  informal drop-in sessions to meet and chat with teaching staff and classmates.
• Cog Sci conference: annual conference for all students studying Cognitive Science.

What our students say about our community

I love that there is something for everyone’s interests and that you can find societies or groups that meet your personal interest. The other thing I love about student life is how integrated it is with the city itself and how you always meet new people and get to do interesting and exciting things you didn’t even know about before.

PPLS Societies

• There are 4 PPLS School societies, PhilSoc, PsychSoc, CogSciSoc and LingSoc, which are open to everyone.
• CogSciSoc, the Cognitive Science Society, aims to provide a community for students and enthusiasts of this multi-disciplinary subject area. They run weekly events including academic talks, paper discussions, field trips, film screenings, and much more!
