Open days, events and visits
Edinburgh: Extraordinary futures await.

Microsoft Teams

Some live sessions will be hosted through Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams is a collaboration and video conferencing platform.

You will need:

  • Your link to the session. This link will be available through your e-ticket which can be found via your booking confirmation or event reminder emails.

Joining the session

  1. Join through your event link. As noted above, this will be through your booking confirmation or event reminder emails.
  2. Enter a name (this doesn’t have to be your actual name if you do not want it disclosed in the chat or session recordings) to access the session. We ask for this so we can see who is taking part in-session, and direct answers to questions to the right person.

    Note regarding Microsoft Teams sessions

    • If you are accessing the event on a laptop or PC, you should not need to download Microsoft Teams or have a Teams account as you can access using your browser.
    • If you are accessing the event on a mobile device, you will be asked to download the Microsoft Teams application before you can enter.
    • If you either need to, or wish to, download the Microsoft Teams app for Desktop or Mobile, please read the instructions on the Microsoft website.

During the session

During the session, staff will be on hand to answer any questions you might have. Please follow their lead for etiquette.

Live captions

If live captions would be helpful for you, here is a step-by-step guide on how to enable and disable them on Microsoft Teams:

  1. During a session, select More in the menu at the top right of the screen.
  2. Select Turn on live captions. You'll receive a notification showing your set language. Live captions will then be shown towards the bottom of the session screen. Please note that the captions will only be visible to you.
  3. You can turn live captions off at any time from More actions.

NOTE: These steps apply both for desktop and mobile device users
