What is a course collection?

View guidance on what course collections types are available to use in your Degree Programme Tables (DPT), including courses collected by programme, school and subject.

Degree Programme Tables are generally made up of both compulsory and optional courses.

During the Online Course Self Selection process, students will be unable to make changes to their compulsory course enrolments.

They will however have the opportunity to select their optional courses from a pre-determined list of suitable options.

These pre-determined lists are called course collections and are simply defined as a group of two or more courses.

There are 3 types of collections:

• School collections
• Subject collections
• Programme collections

Where school and Subject collection are created upon request by Student systems, you can create and amend Programme collections using the EUCLID tools.

Viewing Collections

Read only access to programme, subject and school collections is available to all EUCLID users. Click the View Collections link in the Curriculum Management Reports menu to retrieve and view a collection.

Select the type of collection you want to view from the drop down list.

In this example Programme Collection has been selected.

Click the contine button.

The Collection Code dynamic list box has automatically been populated with the programme collection prefix ROU_.

To retrieve using the dynamic list box continue typing the programme collection code if known. A list of matching codes will appear in the dropdown list.

Alternatively clear the field and start typing the collection name (case sensitive) remembering that wildcards* can also be used.

Type *Cognitive*Science to display a dropdown list of all courses and collections containing the keywords.

Select the programme collection to be viewed from the list; this will automatically populate the Collection Code field as displayed below.

Click the view button to open.

The collection code and name are displayed along with a list of course in the collection.

The course codes are hyperlinks to additional course information including SCQF level, credit value, course tutor and a brief description.
