Background

Matthew Baines is from Sydney, Australia. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Sydney on a part-time basis while working in chartered accounting, rising to the position of Senior Auditor. He re-trained as a church minister at Moore Theological College, Sydney, completing his Bachelor of Divinity with First Class Honours. He served in the Anglican Church of Sydney before moving to Edinburgh for postgraduate study. He completed his Masters of Theology by Research with Distinction. He is currently in the advanced stages of his PhD in Systematic Theology, under the supervision of Dr. Simon J. G. Burton and Dr. James Eglinton. His research focuses on Gisbertus Voetius (1589-1676) and his reception of scholastic and mystical sources in his doctrine of participation. He is currently a half-time lecturer in theology and ethics at Faith Mission Bible College, Edinburgh.
