Thesis title: The role of natural heritage in supporting learning and development in Scotland

Background

My PhD research is funded by the Scottish Natural Heritage Magnus Magnusson Studentship. The study aims to develop our understanding of children and teacher's situated experiences of nature during school-based outdoor learning through video methodologies and ethnomethodological analysis. Through attending to how children and teachers experience the environments associated with outdoor learning at school, I hope to understand how schools might develop relations with nature that lead to effective learning for sustainability.

I have previously worked as a lecturer at the University of the Highlands and Islands' School of Adventure Studies, and as an outdoor learning practitioner. Alongside Simon Beames and Matthew Atencio, I authored Adventure & Society, published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2019: https://bit.ly/2SKQUY2
