Award nomination for intern manager

Penny Scott, Administration Manager for the Careers Service, has been recognised for nurturing new talent in the workplace.

Ms Scott has been nominated in the 2013 National Council for Work Experience awards in the category for Best Employment Experience as Nominated by an Intern.

The award winners will be announced on 19 March.

Student nomination

Ms Scott was nominated for the award by University of Edinburgh student Amelia Lloyd.

The student worked with the Careers Service as Market Research and Communications Intern.

Employ.ed on Campus

Ms Lloyd found her internship through the University's Employ.ed on Campus programme.

Employ.ed on Campus was launched by the Careers Service in 2012 to provide Edinburgh undergraduates with internships based at the University.

The placements typically last between eight and 12 weeks during the summer.

I gained a lot more from this internship than I anticipated. My projects were varied, interesting and sometimes challenging. I enjoyed being closely involved with several different teams in the Careers Service and working in collaboration with others, as well as having space to work creatively on my own.
