Student named Best Intern finalist

Geography undergraduate Alice Kennedy has been shortlisted for the title of Best Intern in the National Placement & Internship Awards.

The student was one of 15 interns placed on the University’s inaugural Employ.ed on Campus internship programme, launched by the Careers Service in 2012.

The winner will be announced on 15 February.

Procurement placement

Miss Kennedy, who is one of four in contention for the title of Best Intern, worked as an intern in the University’s Procurement Office for an eight-week summer internship.

She contributed to three main projects.

She worked as a consultant for Queen Margaret University to identify, analyse and present evidence for their annual Procurement Capability Assessment.

She was also involved in creating procedures for a new database that records the purchasing contracts used by the Procurement Office.

And her final project was to recommend a sustainable procurement action plan for the department.

This is a reflection of the exceptional work Alice completed during her internship. There were more than 300 nominations, and she is now in the top four alongside candidates from Google, PwC and HSBC. We wish Alice every success.
