Information for students studying or planning to study at the University of Edinburgh through Erasmus+

(Updated 14 April 2021)

Following the UK’s departure from the European Union, the UK government has decided not to participate in the next Erasmus programme (2021-2027).  This decision does not affect the UK’s participation in the current Erasmus+ programme (2014 – 2020).

The University of Edinburgh is continuing to participate in the current Erasmus+ programme until the end of our 2020 project, which has been extended until 31 May 2023. This means that we can continue to receive exchange students under the current Erasmus+ programme until that date, as long as the home university has also been granted an extension to their 2020 project.

Students currently planning to undertake an Erasmus+ study placement at the University of Edinburgh in 2021/22 and 2022/23 can proceed with their placement and apply for Erasmus+ funding from their home institution, as long as their home institution and home country National Agency are willing to support the mobility. Please check with your home institution before making any commitments.

We are working closely with our European partner institutions to ensure that exchange opportunities will continue to be available beyond 2023.

EU/EEA/Swiss nationals travelling to the UK are now required to seek immigration permission. Find out what you need to do:
